Team Me, instead of making a proper video for their song "Get Home" decided to turn it into a game, where while the song plays you have to get the 'guy' home using your keyboard. I think this is a brilliant idea, of promoting a music, some people like more interactive things and this might attract their attention more than a simple music video. The game also relates to the lyrics-'get me home'. (http://teammegame.com/)
Kate McGill, started posing her covers of song on YouTube and eventually got so many views that the labels got interested and now she's realising her debut album and is on tour.
Boyce Avenue, in another example of the video that went vital. The band also covers many songs, and has got so many views already. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzDm2vMHabE)
Also, bands like this often use social networking sites such as Facebook, iTunes, Twitter to raise audience's awareness.
Some artists promote the music video my uploading 'making of' or 'behind the scenes' of the video. We thought that this might be a good idea because fans often like to know what happens behind the scenes or when the artists speaks directly to the audience and tells about the work they're doing. For example Avril Lavigne- What the hell (behind the scenes). it's got 1,903,006 views !! I think its a good way of promoting the music video too, because we hear the artist's view and we often get a better understanding.
