RESEARCH: LAURA MULVEY

"In a world ordered by sexual imbalance, pleasure in looking has been split between active/male and passive/female. The determining male gaze projects its fantasy onto the female figure which is styled accordingly"
- Laura Mulvey, 1992

In more understandable words, women are used as a "props" to be looked at by a man audience.  This is pretty clear to me. What man wouldn't watch half naked woman? :)

In 21st century, almost every pop or hip hop music can prove this theory, and this is just an example by Snoop Dogg and David Guetta.

Of course, few songs can challenge that theory, mostly made by female artists, like Beyonce.

Women in this video don't wear much, and they do have quite a lot of contact with a camera. This makes a connection between singer and the audience, which makes the women active and not passive.
