Planning for Music Video- Inspired video

Here are examples of music videos which has inspired our own idea, and gives us hints what we could do and how to play around with many different things.

Olly Murs- My Heart Skips a Beat
As music video starts, there is lots of different kind of shots which introducting an artist.
In this case is Olly Murs

Lots o the focuses on his face and outfit, but also
shows the location, which is a skatepark. There is only this one location
throughout whole video.

Olly and Rizzle Kicks move their head with the rhythm of the music 0.12
and it comes few times in the music video

Slow motion is used to show different hobbies like dancing, skipping, hooping
This makes better impression

Jump Cut is just before chorus starts 0.53
It is high angle showing artist on the massive vinyl with the name of the artist
Jump cuts emphasis rhythm and beat of the music, also the vinyl create extra impression of scratching.

Lots of mid/long shots, fewer close ups

High angle of drums when drums sound is playing

reverse shot of Olly and most of the time camera is moving along with him

The Black Eyed Peas- I Gotta Feeling
As the music video starts, most of the shots focus on the body and woman appearance.
Showing their body and outfits we get a feeling that they must getting realy to the party. This creates connotation to the lyric- 'i gotta feeling that today gonna be a good night'

Each person from the crew of artist is in the different place, again getting ready. As the video builds up, we see each of them going to a particular place- party place

There are lots of dancing shots which create feeling of party, relax, having fun
Also camera is moving along so actually audience can feel this dance too

2.35 min there is used of slow motion which works very effectively with upbeat music

DJ Fresh -Louder
There is a mixture of slow and fast motion which creates a great contrast with each other and builds up and fulfill an expectation of a lyrics.
Slow motion is mainly used to show a whole body, while a fast pace/ fast motion is use to show closer shot like movement of feet, twisting, skateboarding.

Lots of long and mid shot establish different for of sport/hobbies
Close up is used to show props like watch, roll shoes, dog with sunglasses on, skate board

In the last section of the music video when all o the characters are dancing together, there is used of fast pace to emphasis the lyric of
FASTER, LOUDER, BETTER

Example- Kickstarts
As the video begin, there is a close up of the feet. After a while there is used of split screen with different shoe in each one. Then it build up to many more screen with dfferent shoes.

There is lots of close up- lips, face, hands, eyes

there is very nice used of split screen of singer singing and singer being a character with his girlfriend 0.19

There is a fast pace of different people in the same place which just look like swithing on and of 0.31 /0.39

there is a dancing part with screen split into 3 different part. Each part is showing different part of the body but non of the fit another ones. 0.49
