Horrible Histories:
Horrible Histories is a programme on CBBC which educates viewers about History. However this is not just an average educational programme, the creative team have re-vamped the old Horrible Histories concept and put a modern twist on it to help viewers learn with a fun atmosphere. The new idea they introduced to the show is including music about historical topics, and overall produce humour. They create music, sometimes creating parodies, such as the videos below. This tactic seemed to have worked since they have won a BAFTA award for the best comedy!
This video about the 'King of partying' has adapted some of Eminem's 'My name is' with the introduction being similar.
Eminem - 'My name is... my name is... my name is... Slim Shady.'
to...
'My name is... my name is... my name is... Charles the second'.
The four King Charles' imitate Westlife and the typical boy band image of singing on stools, dramatic spotlights and choreography.
Cleopatra's song is inspired by Lady Gaga and reflects how glamorous Cleopatra was, sharing diva-like qualities.
The voice and overall disco theme was inspired by the Beegees.
The Pachacuti song is similar to 'Mambo No.5'. This catchy number is not only to be covered by Horrible Histories, but the children's character 'Bob the Builder' also did a cover!
The 'we sell any Monk' is a parody of the popular advert 'we buy any car'.
Horrible Histories went on to host a prom at the Royal Albert Hall, and they continue to be successful, and allegedly to be reported to collaborate with artists such as Chipmunk.
