Importance of colours.

While reading our group's blogs, I realised that editing is not only about cutting clips and place them in a right place. Of course, I didn't really think like that, however I never payed much attention to colours and special editting.

Sometimes we need to help our camera and weather to get better effect. I'm not a fan of special effects, photoshoping and girls with make up, however some clips need to be edited in a special way, adding or reducing colours/contrasts.

In Calvin Harris' Feel so close original video (the worse one, we'll make it better =)), the editor had to give an effect of summer-ish style, adding more colours and increase the contrast, making whole movie more calm-ish and relaxing.

However, in Green Day's - "21 Guns", I can see that colours have been "cut" and contrast lessen. I'm quite sure not many people could clearly see that. That is because they could cut it out too much, otherwise it would be too dark and some scenes couldn't be seen clearly enough - decreasing the effectivity as well.
It's always the same way - if we want to make the clip colourful, we can add a dozen of effects and contrasts, however when it comes to decreasing - we are making video really dark-ing and boring almost instantly.
