Research - One Direction

One Direction are one of the most recent and successful boybands. Since coming fourth in the X Factor competition, they have released their first album, which is predicted fast sales since their first single 'What makes you beautiful' downloads soared and is one of the fastest selling singles ever. They have created a behind the scenes video for filming their first music video. This gives fans an exclusive look on how they made the video and possible out takes they might enjoy.

While on the X Factor tour, they had a deal with Pokemon on Nintendo, to promote their products. This convergence means that both companies get promoted at the same time, and encourages One Direction fans to buy Pokemon/Nintento products.

The social networking site twitter have a thing called 'trending topics' in which people use hash tags (#) to create a link to whatever they are talking about. The most hash tags 'trend' and are categorised from nationwide/worldwide. This is what fans and twitter had to say about One Direction!!! (Print screened from the twitter app on my iPhone).

Last week editing - Wednesday

Today is Wednesday. This was really hard day. We had done lots of work. Our editing session start at 9 am , as we had a 3 hour media lesson. 

On Monday, we have been told that we should take one more shot of base track. We had only done in, in the skate park and because we want to show different kinds of activity and interest, our artist should not only be showed in one location. It does not reflect on the rest of the shots and clips. 

Our lesson plan was:

• 9 am - 10.30 am - editing
• 10.30-12.15 am - shooting another base tract

However, as we began to edit, we have faced another BIG, BIG PROBLEM. As we were copy/paste or move clips to put them in the right place, more that half of the footage has moved with no reason.

We tried to bring back to their oryginal place but they all have move in different way. This messed up all the base track. Each of them did not much a soundtrack. Also another clips from different location like art room/skatepark/piano has also moved. We have spend about an hour to bring everything back but without the luck. After conversation with one of the technician, we decided to start a 'New Project' and place all the base track and clips in the right place. This actually was much easier, and if we would do it at the beginning we would safe lots of time.

In the meanwhile, we had to arrange a free, media class to film our last base track. However we could not start at the time we wanted to, because the mock exam was held.

About 11.30 am we finished to 'tidying up' our footage and we started to film. We only took one change to film it, because we were running out of time. We also took a test footage to check if our idea would work.

However it went really well. This base track has fulfilled and completed our music video. It was exactly what we needed. 

About 12 pm we had finished and start to edit. But we decided to stay as long as we could, but with few difficulties.

• 12 pm - 1.15 pm - Me, Ada, Evie and Robert
• 1.15 pm- 3 pm - Robert had to go 
• 3. pm- 5 pm - Evie had to go, but me and Ada stayed and tried to finished it off

Because of what happened before will of the footage, we were checking and saving every time when we were  making changes in the timeline. Unfortunately, we had no change to complete the music video. However only 20 second has left, and we already decided what shots we are going to put.

Everything is coming together, with nice based structure. It is looking really nice. I am looking forward to finish it. 

Last minut idea for base track

During our editing we have found out that some of our base track are not so good.
We have decided to arrange another filming session and create a new base track. Because the time was ticking, we did not have lots of time. I wanted to make it simple but very effective. I realised that we could use a projector to film our last base track. Before actuall shooting session I was looking through different music video to make sure that we would not waste our time and come up with the really good effect which will add energy.

2 days left !

Aaaaaawww we have only to days until deadline and we still have lots of work to do. But we think in very positive way and we are sure that everything will be done till Friday afternoon ! ( IT MUST BE)

We went shopping to look for clothes our Artist would wear. We had things in mind such as significant items the Artist would wear such as glasses/hat. (Photos taken by Klaudia)

Red and white Letterman jacket from Primark, worn with a logo and text shirt of a music player and says 'Old Skool'. We thought it linked with music and the jacket is similar to artists such as Example and Wretch 32

Red braces give an edge to the jeans our artist would be wearing. They will not be fitted but hanging loose to look cool.

Black hat from Primark being worn with shirt and jacket, we wanted to see what it was like combined/put all together and were happy with the overall image. He would be known for his cool shirts and his jacket, and infamous hat! The mix of sporty/prep/modern/skater makes a platform for the artist to create his own style which reflects the music he makes.

We noticed the shots of the dancers in the beginning was dark, so we opened the curtains to get more light.

promoting new artist

Christina Perri is a new artist, who just released her debut album- Lovestrong.  I noticed that her song- Thousand Years, appeared on the Twilight Saga:Breaking Dawn soundtrack, and a video clip was created for it too. I think that it's a two-way process, because the movie is promoting the new artist, and the artist (+video clip) is promoting the movie. People who see the video clip think of the movie because there are clips form the movie. It's a great way for Christina to be heard of and become famous artist.
