I like idea of kind of 3D / colourful shadows effect in the CD cover. That is why I decided to use it when creating my own one. Some of the CD Covers below have just an colourful outline like Estelle or Maroon 5, some are repetition of the same picture like The Art of the Noise and some like Sugababes or Britney used to cover whole picture with certain colours.
Insted for any graphic design, we are going to use a 'vinyl' image. Our artist is a DJ, so we want to emphasis his style and atribute through everything we actually can. Because this is his first album, it is really important to introduce him to the audience best as we only can. The audience will recognize the artist as well as the music really quick.
In the group we decided to use these 3 major colour - red, yellow and blue. However, after a while we realised that we also need a black colour to take the digipak look more standout. We added the black into our colour ideas. Some of the colour like red and blue are actually easy to spot in the music video. Insted of white, we go with yellow to give it a warmish feeling, but also to emphasise 'the electropop' style. However, we are going to stick with these basic colour but play with them through special effects and design. I believe it will work very well.
Our first choice of the font was alright, but I felt that it is not just enough. It does not give the right feeling to the audience. Throughtout the font, we want to present the style of music but also the artist. We want to wake up the positive emotion in the audience who is looking at the CD cover.
And we finally found the right one. It is called a 'Disco Inferno'. It speaks for itselfs. Also it goes pretty well with our new album name : ' Disco Never Dies'.
